The Thousand Lights Mosque of Chennai holds great significance for the Shia community of India. Thousand Lights Mosque is famous for its architectural splendour.Thousand Lights Mosque was built by Nawab Umdat-ul-Umrah in the medieval architectural style in 1810. It is spread over an area of three acres and is one of India’s largest mosques and is a very sacred place of worship for Muslims. The mosque has multi-domes and two towering minarets. It is located at the crossing of Mount Road and Peters Road.
