CLS- Core Life Support - Basic & Advanced
Posted on 07 Oct 2021Core life support (CLS Course) training reinforces healthcare professionals understanding of the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, performing CPR, choking relief, using an AED, and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival.
To train participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compression, deliver appropriate ventilation and provide early AED usage. CLS Advanced emphasizes the importance of basic & Advance of life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective life support with Basic and Advanced life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation. In this course taught at IIEMS Kerala- Kottayam, Kochi and Trivandrum, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.
Course Contents
CORE LIFE SUPPORT BASIC (CLS- B):
- Critical concepts in high-quality CPR & Chain of Survival
- 1-rescuer CPR and AED for adults, children and infants
- 2-rescuer CPR and AED for adults, children and infants
- Differences among adult, child and infant rescue techniques
- Bag-mask techniques for adults, children and infants
- Rescue breathing for adults, children and infants
- Relief of choking for adults, children and infants
- CPR with an advanced airway
CORE LIFE SUPPORT BASIC (CLS- A):
- Core life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device and use of an (AED)
- Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
- Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
- Airway management
- Related pharmacology
- Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team
- Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics
