Agra College, one of the oldest institutions of higher education in India, was founded in 1823 by the renowned Sanskrit scholar and astrologer Pandit Gangadhar Shastri. Initially functioning as a Government College until 1883, it later came under the management of a Board of Trustees and a Committee of Management approved by the government.
