A 15.6-inch laptop with a Full HD IPS touch screen, 512 GB fast SSD, Ryzen 5-3500U CPU, and 8 GB of RAM is the HP Pavilion 15. There are other models in the range, but a good balance between performance and price is provided by this one.
With its optimized Vega 8 graphics, it is powerful enough to run pretty much anything and can even do some light gaming. You get the laptop itself, a 45W adapter, and a quick-start guide inside the pack.
There is a full size HDMI port on the left side of the laptop, a Gigabit Ethernet port with corresponding status LEDs, a USB TypeC port, SSD drive status LEDs, and a combo headset microphone socket.
The memory card reader, a Kensington security slot, 2 regular types A USB ports, and the charging port with its corresponding LED are on the right side. Both USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports allow a limit of 5 Gbps, not the 10 Gbps of the new Gen 2, but it should still be fast enough for most accessories that you're going to plug in for the time being. As seems to be the rule, the SD card slot is useful but restricted to sluggish USB 2.0 speeds. All plastic construction does feel a little flimsy in places
The construction quality of the laptop is good if nothing outstanding. It looks pretty good. The surround and palm rest of the keyboard feel fairly firm, but ever so slightly creak.
The lid has more versatility than I would like to see, which gives the LCD panel behind it little protection, aside from making it feel a little flimsy.
I uninstalled McAfee, letting the built-in free Windows Defender take its place. There's not too much junkware. Normally install MalwareBytes if you need additional security. There's some HP tech, too.
We can see a slim 5 mm bezel across the sides of its wider 15.6 "panel, keeping the total size down."
The top bezel measures 11 mm, but the 720p HD webcam and dual noise reduction microphones are included.
The bottom bezel measures 20 mm with the HP logo.
A small amount of flex, but not too bad, in the middle of the keyboard. There is a slight amount of flex toward the middle of the keyboard and it sounds a little clattery, but there is a good 1.5 mm of travel and I found it perfectly appropriate to type on it.
Nice and wide the trackpad, but a little short. The multi-touch trackpad is good and wide, but in the vertical direction, it feels cramped compared to other high-end trackpads I've used, the surface is a little rough and I really recommend using this laptop with a cursor, but with good optimistic clicks, it's more than adequate; if you want clicks over the default taps.

And you can customize it via the pre-installed Elan Clickpad app.
Performance and Display
Just a 130-degree hinge ...... The 1920 x 1080 full HD monitor has an IPS
touch screen pad, which is one of the laptop's highlights. To really take advantage of the touch display, there's no 360-degree hinge, but that would bump up the price. The hinge tilts back to just 130 degrees and for the notebook, the base of the lid then becomes a large rear foot, slightly tilting the keys.
