But as someone who is involved as IT Service Provider in Kerala, we found that many customers(who are by now are familiar with Sophos XG, Intercept X) feel the difficulty in purchasing as there are many packages and even bundles distinguished by features and licensing. So we sat with our system engineers in Comtech Systems, Kochi branch to explain this time the features that get covered in FullGuard and EnterpriseGuard network security software separately.

What to be clear before getting to Sophos Licensing Models?

1. There are in-built features for the Base Firewall(hardware/virtual) you purchase with each licensing model. The base firewall software does not need to be renewed or has other licensing costs.

2. Licensing for features or Software Subscriptions(technically) can be purchased one at a time or in bulk/bundles. As in all basic business, buying in bundles gives you more savings than buying them individually.

3. The software subscriptions you made has to be renewed each year to keep up to date with the latest features of Sophos to enhance security technology.

4. These subscriptions, if expired do not affect the Base Firewall license. And still, you can run with advantages from Base Firewall with limitations.

We at Comtech Systems do not like to call these features complimentary because one has to pay a good amount of money for licensing for every single feature mentioned.

IPSec licensing do not need to be renewed but have to be sold separately!

Network Protection- Important for homes & businesses of any size! This function limits network usage to authorised users protecting unwanted access. Although summed as a single word, network protection contains multiple layers of protection for both incoming and outgoing activities.

Web Protection- If the network is safe, then the next step is to secure the browsing of users inside the network. With Sophos XG browsing-based security, malevolent websites can be blocked!

Email Protection- If spam could not reach you through network and web, the next way to approach you is through emails having risky links. Sophos uses artificial intelligence to block spam mails with no further thoughts.

Web Server Protection- This covers an individual or organizations complete server rights, including data protection, meeting compliance standards etc

Standard Support- Sophos provide basic protection with every single purchase with extended support for 90 days. The software updates and features are covered in these 90 days. Warranty and RMA are available for one year after purchase during which it can be repaired or replaced.

Enhanced Support- This comes with bulk purchases of software or bundles. Here you get 24/7 hours of support through mail and phone, updates for software features, warranty and RMA for 5 years.
