The Department of Zoology and Aquaculture at St. Xavier's College, Vaikom, established in 1998, offers a comprehensive graduate program in Zoology with Botany as a complementary subject and Aquaculture as a vocational subject. Renowned for its commitment to life sciences, the department engages in various training programs, exhibitions, and participation in national and international aquashows, fostering a strong sense of biophilia among students. It features three well-equipped laboratories for Zoology, Aquaculture, and Botany, along with a computer lab, providing ample facilities for practicals and experiments in biological sciences and aquaculture. The department, initially headed by Prof. Sunny Jose, currently boasts a dedicated faculty of five members, including three Ph.D. holders, committed to nurturing academically competent and self-reliant individuals.
