Food Science and Quality Control

Recognizing the growing significance of the food industry in India's economy, the Department of Food Science and Quality Control at St. Xavier's College, Vaikom, was established in 2021 and is affiliated with MG University. The department offers a comprehensive curriculum tailored to meet the needs of the food processing industry, covering diverse areas such as fruits and vegetables processing, meat, fish, and poultry industry, alcoholic and soft beverage industry, spices and condiments industry, flavor industry, confectionery, quality control, and food packaging. With a 30-day annual internship program, students gain professional experience and exposure to real-world working environments. The department is dedicated to developing vibrant and competent students ready to excel in fields such as food processing and manufacturing, process and product development, food production and waste management, food safety and standards, food quality assurance, and research and development, thus preparing them for a successful career in food technology.
