MIGRATING TO CLOUD

MIGRATING TO CLOUD

Posted On Nov 25, 2020

A recent survey shows that within the next year, companies expect to move the bulk of their apps to the cloud.

According to a survey conducted by a company study on technology and business preparation, businesses are floating their applications in the cloud at a remarkable pace, noting that organizations expect to move most of their applications to the cloud over the next year. The report finds that over 88 percent of respondents are currently using some form of cloud infrastructure and that over the next 12 months, 45 percent of companies plan to migrate three quarters or more of their apps to the cloud. "Cloud adoption is being driven by the promise that it will increase revenue and drive innovation through benefits such as improved scalability, agility, and resiliency, to name a few. Only 10% of respondents reported not using cloud computing at all. Cncept of cloud computing includes services of all sorts of software-as-a-service (SaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS), including email (Google G Suite email; Microsoft Exchange Online), office management suites (Google Docs and Sheets and Microsoft Office 365), and similar offers. The study, which surveyed 1,283 global software developers, technical leaders, and decision-makers, reports that all their applications are hosted in the cloud by 21% of organizations. The survey also found that while 49 percent of organizations run applications in conventional, on-site contexts, 39 percent use a hybrid-cloud alternative mix of public and private cloud deployments, and 54 percent use multiple cloud services.

Cloud-based security was cited by respondents as the most important skill field required for transitioning to or implementing a cloud-based architecture (65%), followed by monitoring (58%) and Kubernetes (56%). More than a third (37%) of respondents reported having developed production for AI services, with 47% planning to deploy AI-based services over the next three years at some point.

Challenges Overcome

Cloud adopters' greatest obstacle is not technical—they're people. In order to ensure long-term cloud performance, companies need to ensure that they have the requisite and sufficient skill sets in place. She found that "Cloud engineers are in high demand," "Recruiting and more often, re-skilling current staff needs to be the top priority," she said. Treseler also noted that the difficulty of cloud migration is usually underestimated by organizations. "Understanding how to identify the best providers based on your use cases happens only after you've done your homework, "Understanding how to identify the best suppliers based on your use cases only happens after you have done your homework. Other big choices are also going to have to be made. How will a mutual responsibility for defense, for example, be managed? Identifying needs and unique use cases is an essential first step to long-term cloud achievement. The answers to two main questions are found: What does the existing tech stack look like? What components of the enterprise should be transferred to the cloud? "Determine where your data lives, and understand the benefits and risks," she suggested, adding that IT leaders should also "school themselves on cloud costs."

Getting a consistent exit plan in place is also critical. What if you need midstream change? What is the cost of change?"What if you need to change midstream? What is the cost of change?"Both are questions that need to be addressed.

The options for cloud services are based on the company in which you are. You can understand all cloud-based services, but if you need to know if this is sufficient for your business, you need someone like Comtech Systems who can understand you as a Cloud Solution providers in Kochi.
