While many businesses saw pandemic as a market disaster, Zoom communications benefited the most during the pandemic. Zoom communications grew into such a brand that it replaced the name of video conferencing with the name ‘Zoom call’. Keeping this in mind, we at Comtech Systems say Cisco Webex will turn out to be at the top. Not only we have reasons to show you but experts backing our statement.

No one ever expected in their wildest dreams that video conferencing will be such a trending thing in the last years. Meetings and functions went as usual till the COVID-19 strike. Everything changed with the arrival of the unexpected guest- pandemic! People have to remain locked down with a minimal amount of social interactions. Although social media applications were a relief, nothing can replace the face to face talk. This made video conferencing a tool for casual as well as official communication. Friendly reunions, corporate meetings, family gatherings and even functions like marriages were hosted through video conferencing sites.
What made Zoom a household name in Video conferencing?

From 10 million to 300 million that too in a few weeks, just imagine it? Zoom Communications were already present for a while. But when the need came, they were aware among people and their features were user friendly to all people around.
What makes any platform user-friendly are the ease with which these features can be used! Unlike other video conferencing applications like Microsoft Teams, Zoom offers an easy sign-up option. You can even sign-up with your Gmail and Facebook. Invitations for the call can be sent easily. Move on, the addictive feature is a straight 40 minutes conference call with 100 attendees.
Disadvantages- However, the features that made this Zoom popular became soon the factors that make this application not secure. Zoombombing- a term that came into existence when hackers made advantage of these automated random IPs and passwords. This made other anonymous users be part of conference calls who were not invited. Such anonymous users have broadcasted offensive material too in these conferences.
Another backdrop for Zoom is that the number of accounts user emails and photos are leaked. Security researchers have also claimed that using Gmail can lead to hacking of emails, thereby important data and communications. Zoom has also accepted that the video conferences are not end-to-end encrypted. These all mean that one may have to face severe cases of privacy and security reasons on carrying out a free zoom call.
How could Cisco Webex Meetings reclaim the market?

While we have Zoom on one side, the other side has the brand Cisco known for a wide range of networking solutions to network equipment like Cisco switch, Cisco Routers, Cisco Access Points and other Cisco Products.
Like Zoom, Cisco Webex was around way before the pandemic but the features incorporated were less friendly to users. This has changed understanding the requirements during the pandemic and post-pandemic. 400 features have been integrated during the last six months into the Webex. Cisco might have missed the opportunity to become the front runner for video conferencing at the start of the pandemic. But it soon can regain the position.
Although other networking companies give competitions to Cisco, it still manages to be the best in Cybersecurity. Most corporates and businesses would give extra thought when it comes to security. They would not prefer to get their privacy breached.
Listen to what Presidio CEO Bob Cagnazzi has said to CRN- “I know Zoom and some others have made security investments as well, but Cisco’s one of the largest security organizations in the world. So who’s going to have better security than Cisco? What you’ve seen in those investment areas is that clients are looking to the combination of security, customer experience and the features—and Cisco’s really ramped up on the feature side as well recently,”.
More businesses are working on a hybrid model where they could integrate employees from their preferred location through collaboration. And with this security as a priority, Cisco Webex meetings will have more focus at the best from Corporate sections globally.
According to CRN’s report, Cisco Webex has 600 million monthly active users globally with around 6 billion calls roughly a month.
