WiFi or LiFi

WiFi or LiFi

Posted On Sep 8, 2020

LiFi is a cellular, optical networking system, that uses data transmitting light-emitting diodes (LEDs). LiFi is planned for use in many energy-conscious homes and offices with LED light bulbs close to those currently in use.

LiFi bulbs are therefore equipped with a chip that imperceptibly modulates the light for optical data transmission.

The LED bulbs transmit LiFi data by the LED bulbs and are received by photoreceptors.

LiFi Advantages:-

 1. Velocity is greater than WiFi.

2.Evite illegal connexions to "WiFi" Broadband LAN

3.With radio interference untouched.

4.More secure, because data can not be accessed without a direct sightline.

5.Removes intrusion from adjacent networks

LiFi drawbacks:- Internet can't be used without a light source.

Since it uses Visible Light, and light can not penetrate, walls, physical obstacles can restrict the spectrum of the signal. Other light sources may be interfering with the signal.

What would LiFi velocity be?

LiFi could communicate up to 100Gbps, and potentially, higher, but a shift in lighting technology would be needed. LiFi is 100 times better than WiFi, a recent news article states.

The expectation was that the default WiFi speed is 10Mbps, and that LiFi, can be as high as 10Gbps, which is faster than the WiGig itself.

Is LiFi safer than wireless Internet?

LiFi uses data transmitting light while WiFi

uses electromagnetic waves for data transmission at radio frequencies.

It can be found in a denser environment because

of less interference caused by light compared to radiofrequency waves.
