Basic Trauma Course
Posted on 05 Jun 2025Basic Trauma Management is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students Emergency Medical Responder Training skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid & trauma case. Students who enrol at IIEMS Kottayam(Kerala), Kochi(Kerala) and Trivandrum(Kerala) learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies.
This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use.
Course Contents
First aid basics
- Medical emergencies
- Injury emergencies (handling of penetrating & gun shoot injuries)
- Environmental emergencies
- Adult CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use for cardiac arrest
- Optional modules in child CPR and AED use and infant CPR
- Patient assessment and management
- Basic and advanced airway management
- Spinal motion restriction—rapid extrication, short backboard, helmet management, log roll and long backboard/scoop stretcher utilization
- Extremity immobilization and traction splint application
